Sometimes winter can make you feel like a caged beast. Unless you’re into winter sports, there often isn’t much to do when the snow is piling up and the roads are covered in ice. We can understand that feeling. So, when you’re staying at Basswood Resort Campground and Country Inn this winter, why not spend a little time checking out the pinnacle of outdoor freedom, the motorcycle.
Harley-Davidson in Kansas
You see, in Kansas City you’ll find the 358,000-square foot Harley-Davidson Vehicle and Powertrain Operations. You might be thinking, “That’s great, but how does it help me?” Well they offer a couple different tours for those interested in biking.
The first type is the Classic factory tour. You can do this tour as an individual or with a group. It’ll take about an hour and they begin at regular intervals from 9 – 1:30 weekdays. Its first-come-first-served and free. This one gives you an intimate view of the assembly line and fabrication areas.
This is what you’ll take if you want to get up close and personal with the action. On the Steel Toe Tour will see a Harley-Davidson powertrain and vehicle assembled and brought to life. You’ll see the manufacturing of fuel tanks, frames and fenders. Not only that, but you’ll gain access to employee only areas in paint and polish. You are required to wear a safety vest, safety glasses and steel toe protection which they’ll provide. As of now Admission runs $38 and includes a ticket, a pin, group photo, safety vest, and a $5 coupon for the gift shop. You’ll want to get some reservations.
