Our Story

Basswood Resort began as a family-owned escape in 1979, nestled just north of Kansas City, Missouri. Over the years, we’ve grown into a beloved retreat where generations gather to relax, reconnect, and create lasting memories. Our inviting grounds and genuine hospitality continue the tradition, making every visit feel like coming home.

Basswood Camp opens

Local family builds six cabins, hosts former President Truman.

1959

First RV Pads Added

40 gravel sites install 30-amp power.

Four Lakes Completed

Redbud Lake finishes spring-fed quartet; stocked with bass, catfish.

Presenting Lisa and Brian Newcomb, the dynamic duo taking the reins as the new General Managers of Basswood Campground and Country Inn!

With an impressive experience of 25 years in Campground Management each, including a remarkable 10-year stint dedicated to Jellystone Park family campgrounds, they’re the perfect team to lead our beloved Basswood Resort into a bright and exciting future.
